Arthritis? Try GLM
Bangalore Times (The Times of India) 16-Feb-2009

Green Lipped Mussel (GLM) has been a source of food in New Zealand since the beginning of human habitation, according to the food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations. The extract of GLM is popular for relieving the symptoms of inflammatory diseases, most notably rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and osteoarthritis (OA).

“Because GLM is a mainstay of the traditional New Zealand Maori diet, we know that it’s pretty safe,” say john croft, a marine scientist associated with research on GLM from the early days. “It is very suitable for use in combination with other drugs and allows considerable reduction in the use of standard anti-inflammatory agents.” he adds.

In his book on this extra-ordinary shellfish – New Zealand’s Green Lipped Mussel, Mr. Croft says, “The benefit comes to arthritis patients as relief from pain and improvement in general mobility. Usually, the improvement in these conditions is gradual and progressive; it is also usually long lasting and not temporary. Normally, the first thing to be noticed is reduction in pain, which is then followed by gradual improvement in grip strength, freedom of movement or other mobility.”

Now, clinical trials and laboratory studies have been conducted in different parts of the world and have confirmed the anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving properties of GLM.

Healtheries a New Zealand based multi-national natural healthcare company has introduced the extract of GLM in the capsule form under the brand name of Seatone. Today, Seatone is sold in over 30 countries and has benefited million of users worldwide. In India, the cost for this therapy of 1000mg per day is Rs 50 per day for the first three months. This can be later reduced to 500 mg per day costing Rs 25 per day.
